Monique Harbers has lived in Curaçao since 2009. Through this link you can visit her solo photo exhibitions, such as ‘Beyesa di Kòrsou’, ‘Diversidat Kòrsou’ and ‘Recordar es Vivir'. In her photographic work, she grasps the beauty of Curaçao, the colors, the stunning lighting, architecture, nature, highlighted details of historic mansions as well as portraits.

The work of photographer Monique Harbers has been shown in many exhibitions, both in the Netherlands and Curaçao, including a much visited show at the muZEEum in Vlissingen and an exhibition at the Bloemhof Gallery. In addition, her photos were displayed at the Curaçaohuis in The Hague and at the artists' lounge of the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival, amongst others. She takes beautiful pictures of nature, underwater scenes, faded glory and cityscapes.

Monique Harbers: “When I take photographs I'm totally focused on the theme, it's a wonderful feeling. I forget the time and everything around me. It's as if you're entering a different world. I hope that when you see these pictures you can also escape to a different world for a while, or look at things from a different perspective.” In addition to taking photographs, she has now also taken up painting (including overpainting photos) and makes lamps from perfume bottles.

In de jaren wanneer zij in Madrid en in Amsterdam woonde, speelde fotografie ook al een belangrijke rol. In 2005 en 2006 heeft ze diverse cursussen Fotografie gevolgd, mede bij Fotogram in Amsterdam.
